A list of current gardening priorities are outlined below
Weather Forecast for this week
Current Gardening Priorities
Grasscutting
Our top priority is strimming and mowing of the North lawn area, facing the town, and the adjacent lawned car park border
plus clearing the lawn of weeds and branches
Maintenance of Borders
Weeding and general maintenance of the car park borders is an additional priority, including the removal of weeds and ivy
*please note, these borders are already planted in places, so please do be careful. If you happen to accidentally unearth any bulbs, please just replace them into the earth
Weeding of the South side Sun Patio area is also a priority. This simply involves the removal of any weeds that may have be sprouting in the path or adjacent area, and maintenance of the borders and pots
Raking of the North side parking area
This surface of this area does get disturbed by cars and so periodically does require raking
Steps
Clearing of the leaves & gutters running alongside the North steps is a priority, particularly in the autumn and wet weather
The steps and gutters can become blocked with fallen leaves
Rear Community Garden
The fledgling community garden is a work in progress and is a priority for the summer months
Current priorities are:
The placement of planters and fill bases half full with hardcore | gravel
(nearly complete)
Placing earth on top of the hardcore to fill the planters ready for seeding
(soil needs to be ordered)
To plant the plants from the patio area into the planters and tubs
(complete)
The construction of a fenced composting area, with access gate, between the rear central trees on the East edge of the grounds
Moving the water barrels to collection points adjacent to the adjoining garage property guttering at the South East rear, and the smaller barrel into the vacant square space in the North West corner of the car park
Clearing and development of the wider rear grounds
All are welcome to assist with and become involved in the garden and grounds here at St Elvan's
