Heritage Activities @St_Elvans
St Elvan's is fortunate to be supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund and Pen Y Cymoedd Community Fund
Our heritage work is multi-faceted and includes bi-monthly heritage talks and stained glass tours, rotating monthly heritage displays, and our permanent NLHF supported exhibition on the history of the Church and the town of Aberdare itself
A self-guided tour of the church is available online in the Tour section of the website here
St Elvan's also boasts 16 beautiful stained glass windows, details of which are available in the self guided Stained Glass Tour section of the website here
Visitors are welcome to browse the church and stained glass, self-guided, any day, Monday to Saturday from 10:00 to 16:00 or attend one of the FREE guided bi-monthly Stained Glass Tours and Heritage Talks
Our FREE guided Stained Glass Tours take on the last Friday of every other month, and alternate with FREE Heritage Talks by visiting guest speakers in the interim months. To book a place, visit the events section of our website here, or to book a separate guided stained glass group tour, please contact us by email at santelfan@gmail.com
Additional walking tours and articles are also available on a number of subjects, currently including:
Aberdare Cenotaph
The Coronation
The Elvan Story
E. Thomas & Williams, Mining Safety Lamps
The Forgotten Buildings of Aberdare
Additional information and heritage resources are also being added here regularly so please do check back regularly for additional information and resources
Our heritage work also often ties in with the FREE visiting exhibition series hosted at St Elvan's in our Mezzanine Gallery
For details of forthcoming exhibitions, please visit the Exhibitions section of the website here and that of our monthly WAM (Words Art Music) Nights, further information on which is available here
